Technology advancements over the last decade have made directed-energy
weapons increasingly possible. In 2019, the Army awarded a Dynetics-led
team a $130 million contract to build a 100-kW laser demonstrator, shown
in an artist's impression above. The High-Energy Laser Tactical Vehicle 
Demonstrator will mount the weapon on an FMTV platform for testing.
