Without access to the international aerospace market, Iranian industry has had to make advances where it can. These have included a number of indigenous variants of the F-5 fighter, including a two-seat version of the Saeqeh jet pictured here. The Saeqeh features twin vertical tails, in place of the single tail on the F-5, which are designed to enhance stability in some parts of the flight envelope. Behind it is an Iranian air force F-14. The latter were acquired by the Shah in the 1970s...
