Qatar has been buying advanced new military equipment as part of a
major modernization program amid growing regional tensions. The air
force will be a significant beneficiary, with deals finalized with three
different contractors for new fighter jets. Among these was a contract
for 36 F-15QA fighters was signed with Boeing in 2017. In August,
Defense Minister Khalid bin Mohammad Attiyah visited the Boeing
plant in St. Louis, where he signed the structure of the first F-15QA.
