On Nov. 15, Russia tested an antisatellite weapon, destroying a
Cold War-era satellite in low Earth orbit. The test was condemned
by the international community because of the debris it created,
threatening other spacecraft in orbit. Above, is shown the
International Space Station. Astronauts onboard were forced to
take emergency measures for several hours amid concern that
debris from the Russian test could endanger the station.
