On Jan. 6, pro-Trump supporters assaulted the U.S. Capitol while
lawmakers were certifying the Electoral College votes that would
confirm Joe Biden as the next president. Many were prepared for
violence, with helmets, weapons and communications gear, and
evidence of planning for an attack. Police were unprepared and
poorly equipped for the riot, which resulted in the mob entering
