Australia Lays Out Its Long-Term Defense Plans

In a milestone for the Australian Air Warfare Destroyer program, the first
of three destroyers, Hobart, was launched alongside the Port River wharf in Adelaide
on March 23, 2015. Hobart is slated for completion in June 2017; HMAS Brisbane is
scheduled to be completed in September 2018, and the HMAS Sydney in March 2020.
The AWD program is the largest defense procurement project ever undertaken by Australia.
