Youngest Air Force B-52 Reaches Half-Century Mark

The last B-52 Stratofortress bomber to be delivered to the U.S. Air Force is now 50 years old, reports Boeing, the manufacturer.
B-52H 61-040 was assigned to Minot Air Force Base, N.D., when it was delivered on Oct. 26, 1962, says a company release.
Boeing built 744 B-52s, in eight different models, from 1952 to 1962.
The Air Force fleet today comprises 76 H-models -- two test aircraft at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., with the balance at Minot and Barksdale Air Force...
