Workload On Special Ops Might Be Balanced Better By Using Conventional Troops, Says GAO

A new report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) urges military leaders to evaluate the possibility of using regular forces for more of the jobs traditionally taken on by special operations troops, reports the Tampa Tribune.

The report notes that the number of special operations military positions jumped from about 42,800 in fiscal 2000 to around 62,800 in fiscal 2014.
