The Chinese government says it is pleased at the decision by Philippine President Benigno Aquino to withdraw two ships from the disputed Scarborough Shoal in the South China Sea, reports Agence France-Presse.
The move may calm tensions, said a government spokesman for China.
Aquino withdrew the ships last Friday because of a passing tropical storm, said a Philippine Foreign Dept. spokesman.
China and the Philippines have been involved in a two-month standoff in the region...
