The U.S. Army is expected to field a new battlefield communications network this October, Defense News reports.
Under current plans, two Afghanistan-bound brigade combat teams will be the first to be equipped with Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T), said officials.
The 3rd and 4th brigade combat teams from the 10th Mountain Division, both slated to deploy to Afghanistan in 2013, will receive the new gear.
