A former U.S. Special Forces officer has been chosen to oversee the Pentagon's clandestine war on terrorism, Newsday reports.
Michael Sheehan, a former U.S. State Dept. counterterrorism ambassador and Green Beret in the Army, has been offered the position of assistant secretary of defense for special operations/low-intensity conflict & interdependent capabilities, two senior U.S. officials said.
