Japanese naval support ships have been refueling U.S. Navy warships in the Sea of Japan and nearby areas since May under revised bilateral security arrangements, reports the Asahi Shimbun.
The refueling work by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force is continuous because the American vessels are keeping an eye out for potential North Korean ballistic missile launches, said government sources on Thursday.
