Washington Freezes Food, Fuel Aid To Military, Citing Corruption

The U.S. government is suspending some of its aid to Somalia's military over concerns about corruption, reports the Voice of America News.
Made public last week, the suspension is a response to the military's repeated failure to account for aid items such as food, fuel and weapons.
The "pause" in aid is designed "to ensure that U.S. assistance is being used effectively and for its intended purpose," said an unnamed State Dept. official last week.
