The Indian navy and coast guard say they have decided to deploy warships and maritime patrol aircraft to the Arabian Sea to counter increasing pirate attacks, India's Economic Times reports.
A hotspot has been developing in the region near Lakshadweep and Minicoy Islands, said officials.
Four or five frigates and offshore patrol vessels will be sent to the region, as well as Dornier reconnaissance aircraft, officials said.
