Violent Incidents Strike N. Caucasus Republics

A police officer was killed and four were injured in a firefight with suspected militants in the Russian North Caucasus republic of Kabardino-Balkaria on Friday, RIA Novosti reports.
Militants armed with guns and grenades attacked a traffic post in the town of Prokhladny in the early morning, police said. A civilian was reported wounded in the crossfire.
