Troops have been deployed to the Tunisian capital after riots spread to the suburbs, reports Al Jazeera (Qatar).
This was the first time the military has been used in Tunis since country-wide demonstrations over food prices and unemployment began a month ago.
Violence broke out in the capital on Tuesday morning when protesters on the capital's main street were reportedly beaten by police.
