Scores of residents of the Syrian border town of Jir al-Shughour have fled into nearby Turkey to avoid a possible attack by Syrian forces, Reuters reports.
The Syrian government has accused residents of the town of killing 120 security personnel and vowed a military response.
Troops, supported by about 40 tanks and armored vehicles, have deployed in villages around the town, said villagers.
