Venezuela, 3 Others Agree To Withdraw From Rio Treaty

Four South and Central American countries have decided to leave a 22-member hemispheric defense treaty, saying it does not benefit them, reports El Universal (Venezuela).

Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua and Venezuela, the members of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) announced on Tuesday they would withdraw from the Inter-American Treaty of Reciprocal Assistance (Rio Treaty), said Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino.
