USS Wasp Heads To S. America

The USS Wasp (LHD-1) amphibious warship has begun a three-month deployment to South America as part of the Southern Partnership Station (SPS), reports the Navy NewsStand.
The Wasp will operate alongside Destroyer Squadron 40, based in Mayport, Fla., in a number of exercises, theater-security operations and military-to-military engagements with partner naval forces in the region.
