USS Farragut Stops Pirate Attack On Thai Ship

A U.S. guided missile destroyer thwarted a pirate hijacking early Friday in the Gulf of Aden, the Navy Times reports.

A skiff carrying seven pirates armed with assault rifles and rocket-propelled grenades attacked the bulk carrier Thor Traveler in a pre-dawn attack, according to the 5th Fleet.

The USS Farragut responded to the distress call of the Thai-flagged ship and dispatched a SH-60B Seahawk helicopter from Helicopter Light Anti-Submarine Squadron 42, according to a Navy...
