USCG Goes With Eastern Shipbuilding For Its Offshore Patrol Cutter Program

The U.S. Coast Guard has selected Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Panama City, Fla., for the second phase of the offshore patrol cutter (OPC) program, reports the service.
Under a US$110 million contract, Eastern Shipbuilding will continue the detail design and construction phase, said a Coast Guard release on Sept. 15.
The full Phase II award also includes the construction of up to nine OPCs; it has a potential value of up to $2.38 billion if all options are exercised.
