USAF Begins Initial Ops At New Base Near Agadez

The U.S. Air Force has commenced operations at a new base in central Niger, reports Air Force magazine. The Nigerien Civil Aviation Authority and Nigerian air force reached an agreement with the U.S. Air Force on Aug. 1 permitting limited flights under visual flight rules from Air Base 201, near the village of Agadez.  The agreement was the final step before the U.S. could begin operations from the base, said U.S. Air Forces in Europe-Air Forces Africa officials.
