USAF About To Restart Light-Strike Aircraft Competition For Afghans

The U.S. Air Force is reopening a competition to provide light-strike aircraft for the Afghan air force, reports Defense News.
In December, the Embraer Super Tucano was chosen over the Hawker Beechcraft AT-6 in the initial program. However, that $355 million contract was cancelled in February after Hawker protested and filed a lawsuit.
The program calls for 20 fixed-wing, light-strike turboprops for Afghanistan's air service, with an option for 15 more.
