The U.S. and Russia have been negotiating a deal that would give Russian state-owned companies the right to directly supply kerosene to the U.S.-operated Manas air base in Kyrgyzstan, reports London's Daily Telegraph.
Such a deal would replace the present arrangement. The interim Kyrgyz government charges that the current setup has allowed Maxim Bakiyev, son of the former president, to skim up to US$8 million monthly.
