U.S. Marines are in Norway for a six-month rotational deployment, reports the New York Times.
Most of the 330 Marines arrived Monday in Vaernes, near Trondheim. The U.S. troops are to stay in Norway for a year as part of a bilateral agreement, with the current batch of Marines being replaced after completing a six-month tour, reported Reuters.
The Americans will learn about winter warfare, said a spokesman for the Norwegian Home Guards hosting the Marines.
