U.S. Hands Over Upgraded Chinook Helicopters In Tangier

The U.S. Army has transferred three refurbished CH-47D Chinook helicopters to the Moroccan army, reports the Morocco World News.

The helicopters were delivered in Tangier on Saturday following a seven-month upgrade.

The US$78.9 million sale included a complete interior and exterior refurbishment; airframe work; engine overhauls; and painting in Moroccan army colors.

The sale was planned since 2010, but delayed by budget difficulties in Morocco.
