American authorities have transferred 29 former officials from the Saddam Hussein regime to the Iraqi government, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Three former officials were transferred last month, and 26 others were handed over on Monday, said U.S. officials. Eight high-ranking members of Hussein's government remain in U.S. custody.
Among those transferred was Tariq Aziz, a former foreign minister and deputy prime minister who became the regime's global spokesman.
