The coalition in Afghanistan has redesigned its command arrangements in the nation's south, reports the Times of London. As a result, about 8,000 British troops are being placed under U.S. command.
The new Regional Command Southwest consists of Helmand and Nimruz provinces and will be rotated between U.S. and British forces. U.S. Marine Maj. Gen. Richard Mills will be the first commander.
