American forces have started flying armed drones out of Turkey to support the effort of U.S.-backed rebels fighting in Syria, reports the Cable, a Foreign Policy blog.
The drones were launched over the weekend from Incirlik air base in southern Turkey, said a Pentagon spokesman on Monday.
No actual strikes had been conducted yet, but the drones are armed, said the spokesman.
Turkey previously only allowed the U.S. to use Incirlik for surveillance missions.
