The U.S. will conduct its first missile drill around the Japanese island of Okinawa later this year, according to local media cited by Agence France-Presse.
The U.S. has informed Japan of the deployment of anti-ship missiles, the Sankei Shimbun reported on Thursday, citing unnamed sources.
The proposed exercise would use a mobile rocket launcher to counter simulated Chinese surface-to-sea ballistic missiles, said the Japanese newspaper.
