During a visit to Batumi on the Black Sea coast, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has pledged U.S. assistance to the Georgian military, reports Reuters.
The U.S. will provide training and support so Georgia can better monitor its coast and airspace, she said. The transport helicopter fleet will also be upgraded.
The secretary also emphasized that the U.S. does not recognize Russia's "occupation" of the Georgian separatist regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
