U.S. Army Seeks Massive Surge in GMLRS Rocket Production

On Aug. 17, 2026, the U.S. Army issued a Sources Sought notice requesting white papers by Sept. 1, 2026, to manufacture 133,014 Guided Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (GMLRS) by 2034. To complete this goal, production is required to reach 19,002 rockets annually between 2028 and 2034.

The proposed contract includes alternative warhead and extended-range rocket variants, compatible with both the M270 and M142 HIMARS launchers. Initial deliveries are scheduled to begin in February 2030.
