U.S. Airstrike Takes Out Mosul Bridge Over Tigris River

A U.S. official says an American airstrike has destroyed a bridge over the Tigris River in Mosul in northern Iraq, reports Reuters.
The attack was intended to hinder Islamic State movements between the western and eastern parts of the city, said the official.
Meanwhile, Iraqi Counterterrorism Service forces are said to be pressing into eastern Mosul, while army and police units, Shi'ite militias and Kurdish fighters have the city surrounded to the west, south and north.
