Upgraded Aster Surface-To-Air Missiles Being Developed

The French defense procurement agency (DGA) has awarded the Eurosam consortium a contract to upgrade SAMP/T surface-to-air missile systems, reports MBDA Systems, which is part of the consortium.

The deal, awarded on Dec. 23, covers the development of a new variant of the Aster 30 Block 1 missile as well as the modernization of the SAMP/T system to enhance its capabilities, particularly against ballistic missiles.
