United Nations Calls For Fighting Pause In ISIS-Held Raqqa

The United Nations has asked the U.S.-led coalition force to suspend its assault of the Islamic State-held Syrian city of Raqqa for evacuations, reported the BBC.

The U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), an alliance of Arab and Kurdish fighting groups, launched an operation in June to gain control of Raqqa. The city is the Islamic State's de facto capital in Syria.
