Under Current Schedules, Subs Will Have To Start Retiring Within 6 Years

The Royal Canadian Navy's submarines will begin to end their service lives in just a few years without a major modernization effort, according to internal Defense Dept. documents reviewed by the Canadian Press.

The first of four, HMCS Victoria, is scheduled to reach the end of her service life in 2022. The last, HMCS Windsor, is slated to retire in 2027.
