U.N. Orders 2,000 More Peacekeepers To Ivorian Mission

The United Nations Security Council has authorized 2,000 additional peacekeepers to be sent to Ivory Coast, reports Deutsche Presse-Agentur.
This would increase the size of the mission (UNOCI) from about 9,000 to around 11,000 military, police and civilian personnel.
Concerns over human-rights abuses and attacks on U.N. personnel prompted the increase, said officials on Wednesday.
