U.N. Mandate Extended For Anti-Piracy Efforts Off Coast

The United Nations Security Council has renewed its authorization for the countries and regional organizations that have been working with Somalia's transitional government to fight piracy in the region, reports the U.N. News Service.

The mandate, extended for another 12 months on Wednesday, authorizes those entities to enter Somali waters and use "all necessary means" to combat piracy.
