The International Court of Justice (IJC) has declared Kosovo's unilateral declaration of independence from Serbia in February 2008 did not violate international law, the Guardian (U.K.) reports.
The issue was taken up with the IJC after Serbia appealed to the U.N.
There are now 69 countries that recognize Kosovo's statehood, with more expected following the IJC ruling.
It requires recognition by at least 100 countries for full statehood to be established.
