The U.N. peacekeeping mission in the Ivory Coast (UNOCI) has recommended an exception to the arms embargo on the nation ahead of Ivory Coast's coming presidential elections, reports Radio France Internationale.
A report by the peacekeeping group urges a partial lifting of the sanctions to allow local police and security forces to be equipped with riot equipment ahead of the Oct. 31 polls.
