U.N. Adds Cease-Fire Observers To Peacekeeping Mission

The U.N. Security Council has extended the peacekeeping mission in Mali for another year, reports the U.N. News Service.
The resolution adopted on Tuesday authorizes a troop ceiling of 11,240 military personnel. For the first time, it called for at least 40 military observers to monitor and supervise the newly agreed cease-fire.
The mandate for the Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) now runs through June 30, 2016.
