U.K. Launches New Space Strategy with Over $9.4 Billion in Funding

On Sept. 8, 2026, the U.K. unveiled a US$9.4 billion (GBP 7.8 billion) Space Strategy through 2030 to support national security, drive economic growth, and advance reindustrialization. The initiative funds missions such as the Rosalind Franklin Mars Rover, rocket, and satellite communications programs.

The strategy prioritizes Space Domain Awareness to track orbital debris, solar storms, and hostile activity to safeguard critical infrastructure. Additionally, it advances Low Earth Orbit communications, surveillance, intelligence, and in-orbit servicing, assembly, and manufacturing (ISAM) to repair satellites and clear dangerous space hazards.
