The British government has condemned a jail term given to one of its embassy staffers in Iran.
An Iranian employee of the U.K. Embassy was sentenced this week to four years in prison for fomenting violence during June's election protests, the New York Times reports.
Hossein Rassam, a political analyst, has been in state custody since his arrest.
The U.K. called the sentence "an attack against the entire diplomatic community in Iran."
