Ugandan Peacekeepers Begin Phased Withdrawal

The Ugandan military says 281 of its peacekeepers have started to leave Somalia as part of a conditions-based drawdown, reports Xinhua, China's state news agency.
The phased withdrawal is in compliance with the African Union- and United Nations-approved reduction of 1,000 uniformed personnel serving under the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) by a Dec. 31 deadline.
