Turkey is going to open a military base in Somalia to help train African troops to fight Al-Shabaab Islamists, say military sources cited by the Daily Sabah (Istanbul).
The base would be Turkey's first in Africa and second abroad overall. The plan has reportedly been approved by the United Nations.
The base will be established in Mogadishu, Somalia's capital, said the sources on Monday.
