Separatist Tuareg rebels in Mali say they have ended military operations after making their territorial gains in the northern part of the country, Reuters reports.
The National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad (MNLA), the main rebel group, took the cities of Kidal, Gao and Timbuktu over the last week.
The group posted on its website that it decided "unilaterally to declare the end of military operations" as of midnight on Thursday, April 5, GMT.
