Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen has handily won re-election, reports the Taiwan News.
Tsai, a member of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), received about 57 percent of the votes in Saturday's election.
She beat out Kuomintang (KMT) candidate Han Kuo-yu, who was widely perceived as being more friendly toward Beijing.
Following Tsai's victory, mainland Chinese State Councilor Wang Yi said that the One China policy remained unbroken, reported Reuters.
