Troops Surprise Unit Protecting Top FARC Leader

Colombian security forces say they killed a dozen leftist guerrillas Sunday morning in a surprise attack in the mountainous central province of Tolima, Reuters reports.
Those killed were part of a unit assigned to protect Guillermo Saenz, also known as Alfonso Cano, the leader of the rebel Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).
The air force, army and police were also involved in Sunday's raid, government officials said.
