The Sri Lankan military said it has captured the last Tamil Tiger base in the Jaffna Peninsula, reports Bloomberg News.
Chundikulam village was seized by government troops late Wednesday, forcing the Tigers to retreat, said a military spokesman.
The village was a base for the rebel navy, the Sea Tigers. The rebels destroyed their boats as they escaped, according to the military.
