Troops In Afghanistan Promised More Support

During an unannounced visit to Afghanistan, German Defense Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg promised that new equipment, including heavy artillery, would be deployed, reports Deutsche Welle.

German forces in the northern region are expected to receive two self-propelled howitzers and more Marder armored infantry vehicles, 10 of which have already been deployed.

The troops had been complaining that they lacked sufficient firepower to deal with attacks by Taliban...
